Models of Contemporary Learning
Models of Contemporary Learning are available through Scootle (see WEB tab).
I have listed the MCL's I have created but there are many more available on the site. They are fantastic resources and totally FREE!!
Tania James (St Benedict's Primary) and I have created a MCL about Career Development titled ‘Exploring Roles in the Community’. This model is a contemporary teaching and learning tool designed to incorporate Career Development into the classroom in the Early Years. It has an enquiry based and 'hands on' approach to teaching and incorporates the opportunity for community involvement. It links the Curriculum Framework and the Australian Curriculum areas of Society and Environment, Literacy, Health and ICT skills together to create an integrated and community involved unit of work.

Water and Waste is a MCL linknig Science, Technology and Enterprise, Literacy and Sustainability together to create a Semester of work suitable to a year 2 classroom. It is a fantastic way to integrate community resources into the classroom, making the student learning real for the students. The children in my class were engrossed in a 'hands on' learning experience, where the teacher worked as a facilitator to provide a print and digital rich environment. I hope you enjoy implementing this model into your school or classroom.

The Schoolyard Safari MCL is an ideal way to link Science, Literacy and Technology and Enterprise in the classroom. By observing the features and behaviour of small animals, students glimpse the diversity of animal life. Students explore small animals leading to a better understanding of how their adaptations help them survive in their habitats. "Through investigations, students learn how worms, snails and ants move, feed and protect themselves.” (Primary Connections, 2008)
